Welcome to Hana and Caitlin!

The Environmental and Energy Law Program is delighted to announce two new members of our team!

Hana Vizcarra joins us as Staff Attorney for the EELP. Before coming to HLS, Hana spent seven years practicing environmental law in the Washington D.C. offices of Beveridge & Diamond and Vinson & Elkins. She represented clients in complex environmental litigation, counseled them on environmental compliance and regulation in state, federal, and international jurisdictions, and advised them on environmental aspects of transactions. Hana’s work for clients in a wide range of energy related industries often involved the intersection of energy and environmental law. Before becoming an attorney, Hana spent seven years working in research and communications for various political and advocacy organizations. Hana has also maintained an active pro bono practice primarily focused on immigration law. Hana received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and B.A. from Pomona College in California.

Caitlin McCoy is our new Climate, Clean Air, & Energy Fellow. Before joining EELP, Caitlin was a Visiting Associate Professor of Law and the Environmental Program Fellow at The George Washington University Law School where she taught classes on environmental law to undergraduate, graduate, and law students. She previously served as the Legal Director of The Center for Coalfield Justice where she worked on environmental justice, coal mining, and shale gas drilling issues in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Caitlin earned her LL.M. in International Environmental Law with highest honors from George Washington Law, her J.D., cum laude, from Washington University School of Law, and her B.A. with highest honors from the University of California, Berkeley.

Environmental and Energy Law Program founder and faculty director Professor Jody Freeman says, “Hana and Caitlin are superb lawyers who will add immeasurably to our program. They are ready to hit the ground running, and lead new initiatives on federal regulatory rollbacks, state and local climate initiatives, corporate disclosure, and more. I cannot imagine two better additions for us.”

We warmly welcome both Hana and Catilin to HLS EELP!
